So I got my first cold sore this week. Yea, it hurts like a mother bear!It in the corner of my mouth and makes it hard to open to talk or eat. That is not my only plague this week though--- I also have a bunch of canker sores on my tongue--- what would you do?
I do not have a bunch of stress right now, I am healthy, no colds or flus, no sun shine to hang out in, not been out in the freezing cold for a week or two. So what I a m saying is that I don't know the cause. But then again I am sillya, and I defy all reason when it comes to my medical issues and past history.

Sillya-
Hey I got a few canker sores a little bit ago, they just wouldn't go away, So I told my sis abou them... she had heard that you could get "canker sores" from lack of iron. I started taking an iron supplement(with either a GOOD amount of water or stool softener- your choice) and PRESTO- they were gone within a day or two! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! I was shocked- maybe it will help
Gal Pal,

Thanks Sarah!, I'll crank up on the stool softeners, errr, I mean the iron ;.)
When I was in 4th grade I had something that sounds very simular to what you had... it is actually a full blown case of Herpies (cold sores are actually a form of Herpies as well.). Now, when I say Herpies, I don't mean HERPIES like the STD kind, it is another version and not passed/recieved the same way, but actually all part of the same family. It felt like my mouth was half rotting away, with boils all over the inside of my mouth and a few on my lips too. It made me so sick at the time I missed the last two weeks of school. Yours, hopefully, hasn't been as bad as that, but regardless, I am sure they are painful. As far as I know, other than Valtrex and other anti-herpies meds, there isn't much to do for them, but wait for it to go away. (BTW: Valtrex can be used to treat coldsores, even though it is advertised for use for the STD form.)
Hope you get feeling better!

Thanks, Liz-- The pharmacist recommended ABREVA, so that is what I am doing so far-- a bit of progress on this second Cold sore-- so far. I am going to go to a Dr is I get another one.
