Witness to Something VERY BAD!

Last night as we were coming home from McCall, we witnessed something very SCARY, SOBERING, and something that I did not want to see. We came into Horseshoe Bend from the North, following a Police officer with his lights on-- he was quite a distance ahead of us. We were saying things like, " ut-oh someone's getting busted", and pointing out to "Steven" (our friend from China that was with us), what happens when people go too fast, blah blah blah. Then we came to where we could see the officer pulled over. There was the officer and a Fish & Game officer with their GUNS drawn hiding behind their car and truck. There was a Red truck that had pulled off the road (a small dirt side road) and stopped only like 15 feet from the highway. The passenger of the truck was sitting on the edge of the passenger window, window down-- appeared to be talking or something with the police. Then we saw a man laying down on the ground at the back of the truck-- what we believe must have been the driver-- he appeared to have been shot in the leg or the butt (grabbing it, rolling around a bit). We were a little shocked at what we saw, our Chinese friend asking lots of questions, then HH turned around about a 1/4 mile down the road to go get a second look. I was scared at what we were seeing-- not sure what was going on-- I didn't know if I needed to duck from a stray bullet or if the guy in the window had a gun and wanted to take aim at the passers-by-- I was afraid to look and I wanted to duck-- but then I saw him face down  DEAD in the road about 20 feet up the dirt road from the truck--other guy still laying on the ground behind the truck. They must have had a stand off of some sort and had to take desparate measures. So, we had to turn around again to head back in the right direction for home, and at that point they had the guy that was shot in the leg/butt standing and putting hand-cuffs on him-- the other guy was obviously DEAD. Who knows what the circumstances were-- the local news stations or websites have not picked it up yet. We assured "Steven" that this was not normal-- poor guy-- his first trip to the US, here on business for only 2 weeks and sees something this tragic-- people die, but you never think you are going to witness something so horrific.

VERY Sobering to think that we saw someones brother, son, father, friends life end--
AND not only does this effect the family that lost a son-- but The officers that have to deal with knowing that they had a part in the death of a person-- even though they train for this and recieve counciling-- it has got to be a horrible replay in the mind.

wow. I was in a situation like that myself, although it didnt involve a police shooting, last christmas zac and i were driving into ontario to relatives, and the main road there is 20 mph. we saw a wreck, didnt think anything of it, but then we saw a girl, maybe my age at the time under a bloody sheet and her head was uncovered with a chalk like right next to her. I think I puked in the car.. Stuff like that just makes you thankful for what we have and the peace the Heavenly Father offers us and that we have the protection of the Holy Ghost to help keep us out of these kinds of situations. I'm sorry you were subject to that.

yuck....I know the feeling. I've driven by 1 fatal car accident, and it was a terrible feeling.

Interesting that a fish/game officer was involved.

Wow, what a scary thing to see. I have seen car acciedents, and people get arrested, but never seen death that close up. What a sad thing for those involved. I hope your friend from China was not to scared. Seeing something so sad does something to a person, even if they are not involved, it still changes you in some way. Sorry you were a witness to something so sad.
